05. Sukiyaki at home
Well, what do you do after a whole day of eating and shopping? You eat some more!
Mrs Fukui treated us with her Beef Sukiyaki which is a great communal meal where beef and vegetables are cooked in Soy & Sake, dipped in raw egg and eaten on rice. This was superb. Along with being a great cook, Mrs Fukui is also really into her beer so we spent a great deal of time talking about food and beer (with Carolyn getting bored at this point by translating).
She was most impressed by my knowledge of Japanese cuisine and my willingness to try anything on offer including the pickled plum which is a very strong bitter/sour plum.
